I agree. However, the likeliness of Ace being some sort of Ghent-reincarnation seemed obvious... it just sounded so unrealistic... if what you say is true, good luck on your project, though. I'll be happy to see it when it's done, though I think you're gonna have a really hard time if you're gonna be successful... the whole idea of HoL is that you can't make it into a film.

There are 2 or 3 of them. Calm down, the ghost is friendly.

Doubtful.

Edit: Sorry, that wasn't very helpful was it? Actually, I don't really know what this is all about, but I've never been that bothered either, to be honest.

Has anyone else noticed that this is listed within the forum as the fourth topic to exist (as they're all numbered in the URL)?

The fifth is: 02:07 PM (http://www.houseofleaves.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5)

Those are the first two. There is no topic listed if you alter the URL to 3, 2 or 1.

Which is especially odd considering all the threads were renumbered when the new forum was introduced, according to their positions in the archive, rather than the actual sequence in which they were created. This (http://www.houseofleaves.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1788) used to be thread № 1, for instance.

I thought the introduction of the new forum would have something to do with it, since 't=6 (http://www.houseofleaves.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6)' is a thread started 15 November 2003—obviously not chronologically following.

Perhaps there are now clues in the thread listing? Who'll be the first to create that list, eh?

EDIT: Fixed it. Left out 't=6' if you can imagine. Ha!

I suspect the thread you're talking about there (link's not right, by the way) might have been one of those subject-less ones we used to get on the old board. You know, the ones where someone posts a topic with no subject line and you have to mess about with the URL to access it. People were always doing that on the old board for some reason. Dunno if it's still possible on this one. [Edit: it probably isn't, come to think of it, because of the 'Last post in thread' link you get next to the poster's name] Anyway, DaethisJain was quite a shall-we-say self-conscious poster, and he was always doing stuff like that. He posted quite a lot of stuff that he deleted the next day, etc.

So, maybe that subject-less thread somehow got conflated with this 'zampano'sdarkness' thread during the move?

I'm probably wrong though, but who gives a shit, really?

Just thought I'd put it down, since I checked. 't=7' gets you a Board Message about the topic not existing, as well.

I started going through the numbers, just to see. I'm not sure how long I would have done it had I not remembered I have something else to do.

It did occur to me though: We've got that index page number that is erroneously four digits. Anyone try, yet, to see which topic that is? Or, for that matter, which post?

if you all remember when i joined this site i posted something i wrote that was savagely defamed by the assa9 ellimist that was all about 9:54. for those of you who can't tell time, that means i wrote that 4 months before MZD did, pretty weird i don't care though, i just came here to say as for the topic # whatever thing, 4 is the same word for Death in japan so they use it less than we use 13, i think MZD is trying to tell us there's a bird in the house

fearful_syzygy
11-27-2007, 11:31 PM
Oh I remember you now... vaguely. Glad to see you're not making any more sense now than you did the first time. This isn't topic number four. It's no. 1 now (see that t=1 in the URL?), and when it was created it also wasn't number four. If you came back just to tell us that four is associated with death in Japanese then I'm sorry but you're out of luck.

Besides, can I just say: Search Function! (http://www.houseofleaves.com/forum/showthread.php?p=53835#post53835)

Yes we've all read OI's post up there, genius.

The point is that this thread is no longer listed as number four. This is because all the threads got renumbered, again (which is why, if you actually try and click on the link rather than just copy/pasting it, you'll see that it leads precisely nowhere). This thread is now number one. When it was originally created, i.e. before the shift which caused it to be number four, it was some other number (but not four). I don't know what number it was and I don't care because numbers are randomly allocated and thus it makes no difference whatsoever.
