Just thought i'd share what i think is a massive coincedence about how i picked up House of Leaves...
I was a Poe fan back when she released Hello, but for whatever reason, never bothered to pick up Haunted when it came out. Anyway, a few months ago, they started play the Hey Pretty drive by remix on the radio, and i absolutely loved it, but never managed to catch who did it. Eventually, i heard it was by Poe, so, having this online gift certificate from hmv.com, i went and ordered Haunted. The next day, i was browsing through this used book store near work, and i saw House of Leaves on the counter. It caught my eye, looked interesting, and was going for 10 bucks, so i picked it up. It was one of the editions before they had "listen to the house...buy Poe's Haunted" on the back, so i didn't think anything about it, and started reading it on the way home. Next day, i get an e-mail from hmv.com telling me the CD was out of print(this was a few weeks before they re-released it)...so, i went to the record store the next day and picked it up there. I read "Read the House by Mark Z. Danielewski" on the back of it, and got sufficiently creeped out. All of this happened in the span of about 2 days.
These things tend to happen around the book eh?
