for some reason, this quote stuck out when i re-read the book and it's still bothering me. I don't understand it, maybe someone can explain it...
"If he has horns, who's to say he doesn't also have hooves"
(i think that's right.. i don't have my book with me, it's out in my car)

Maybe it has something to do with all that Minotaur stuff. Who knows?

Where in the book did it take place? What chapter? images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Hooves, which are an animal form of feet/toes... bring back the whole toe thing, which would relate Johnny to the minotar, and all the feelings regarding Fathers.

But I could be completely off, it's just an idea...

Well the quote appears in the beginning on page 17 when talking about Navidson. They were talking about how our culture is still sex-biased and that everyone was attacking Karen as being anything but a housewife.

i believe that the horned comment originated in restoration litature as a sign of a cuckold.

cuckold: a man whose wife is unfaithful.

following that, the "hooved" comment would simply be the suggestion that he was also cheating on his wife (which is brought up more than once in the book [echoed?])

i'm replying to this old post something like a year later, so i doubt anyone will read it. i thought that the above was easily understood by everyone. i thought that the reference to a man having horns was in the general pool of knowledge. just recently i found out that few people my age knew what i was talking about.

if this is news to you, say so. if it is not, berate me for overstating the obvious.

thanks.

the first thing that comes to my mind is the Devil himself.
