Poe is on Conan early Wednesday morning (tonight), and this time it looks like Mark is reading from HOL while she does Hey Pretty. Check your local listings, the show is on NBC after Leno.

Speaking of Leno, Poe's appearance on it will be rerun on Monday, July 2. Mark didn't read but you can see copies of HOL in the background on Cody's table.

They did the Collision mix, which is a little bit of Mark speaking at the beginning, then the rest of the regular version is sung by Poe.

I always liked the Collision mix.
I wish I had seen them! Oh well, it'll be re-run, just like Leno. images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

although this was 3 years, has anyone tried tracking down a video file of this?

Great, but is there any chance of MZD doing Fox's Celebrity Boxing? That would be worth seeing for sure. I think a good match would be MZD versus Leno's guitarist what's-his-name. Either that or Woody Harolson. Any chance of it happening?

Edit: Whoa shit, I didn't realize Michelle's announcement was 3 years old.

I have a really bad MPG of it. I was gonna put a still up when we moved the site, but the vid quality was so icky I decided to wait. I'll make a fresh encode from my VHS of it sometime.

he needs to write more.

Nah, let him rest on his laurels. There's too many books in this world already.

well think of it like this...if he were to quit writing right now..he would leave with a suggnifigant empact on a few people...or he could write again...and chance writing something horrible...and just fuck up his reputation...and in the last senerio he could do great again but go mainstream and then other dumbfucks will end up reading the book and stumbleing in here...so i would rather he write something similar to HoL or just not write again at all...because theres nothing wrong with a one hit wonder...but there is something wrong with trying to recreate success over and over...and fail...so if he feels that he needs time to write let his genious take however long it needs...

You can get a video of Mark dancing (http://www.realpoe.com/video/Poe_lover_256k.mov) on Poe's site.

He's the one in the red shirt.

I think.

Well (assuming that IS him in the red shirt), fortunately we have other grounds on which to base our admiration for him.

There are people in the world, in grad schools, in grad schools at better schools, and then professors above them and so on, who think THEY are the smart ones, and that everyone here is part of the rabble. I mean what do you think this is, a seminar?!

I think the beauty of this site and the discussions that come up on the Internet is that they can be very intelligent. Much of the time they aren't, but then that's true of all discussions, wherever they happen. Here, though, everybody's pretty equal. Everyone is anonymous, and we can all just discuss a good book on the same level.

I just get frustrated with that "we're the smart ones and we have to keep the masses out" kind of talk wherever I am, and I get sad when I see it here.

I don't think that its so much like that "we're the smart ones and we need to keep everyone out"
Many people have joined and participated without being outcasts, even late in the boards existence. But the people who have been around awhile do get sick of answering the same questions 5000 times. It isn't even that they mind re addressing a topic, but it does get frustrating when someone pops in the first time and asks "Why is the house blue?" and then leaves without ever contributing or joining in.
As with any group that has been around awhile, it IS difficult for someone to jump in and be accepted. They will have to persist and learn about the others as the others learn about them. Here i don't believe that we are anti new people, but new joiners must realize that they can't immediately jump in and be "in." For those who put in the time and effort, it will be worth it.

I agree but beyond that I think the problem which causes frustraton is that there is no definate answer to the question "Why is the House Blue?" We all have a different answer and there have been many presented. It would be a hell of a chore to present all of these theories. Hopefully newbies, when pointed to the searach engine actually use it. Members os the board have spent a great deal of time doing reasearch and studying this stuff and there is tones here on this site to look through. I hope people take advantage of that work. It would be very hard for one person to do all of the work we have collectively done by himself. That is the beauty of the board it is at once a place to comminicate And a repository of a ton of info. It is sad when people choose to ignore it in favor of a uick answer. I tell you what, HOL has NO QUICK ANSWERS. And that's why I like it.

So get to work.

I don't think it's that either. Pardon me for speaking on behalf of Statix but based on many of his previous posts it just seems that he dislikes being part of any kind of "mainstream" crowd. See, for instance, his post about how everyone else is starting to write a book two months ago now that he has started to write a book two months ago (http://www.houseofleaves.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30). And also how he dyed his hair black and then some people he knows did the exact same goddamn thing! It's not a case of not wanting a bunch of dumb noobs (is that supposed to be spelled with zeroes?) flooding the board, or even a case of intellectual elitism. It's more of a case of wanting something to distinguish oneself from other people. If something you like suddenly becomes popular, it loses that significance; it's no longer yours. It's a common enough sentiment among teenagers. At least I know I used to feel that way.

Am I right?

Jesus, we could have an entire discussion board all about what the fuck he meant when he said "he could do great again but go mainstream and then other dumbfucks will end up reading the book and stumbleing in here."

you are absolutely correct in your assumption that i dispise being part of a mainstream...i know that like it was quoted in Men in Black one...a person is smart enough to handle himself...but people when grouped together are idiots...we as ourselves can handle the kind of mature coversation it takes to be a respectible part of this board...but say...oh i dunno i go off and let all my dimwitted friends read the book...those that know how to read anyway lol...say they all flocked in here...now im sixteen and none of you seem to have a problem relateing with me on at least one topic or another...but say i did that and a group of fifteen to 19 yearold kids flock to the board...with their dumbfuck ideas and they would also end up ganging up on members...i do not see that as fair nor smart...i think you all see my point...if a book like House of Leaves were to become mainstream...it would fuck up the entire system we have on this forum...i mean sure...we have the elite...1000+ of actual quality posting...and we have out vets who have id say 500+ of related post...and we have our seasoned posters with 100+ and then our n00bs...but its a control...that the book isnt well know that keeps that system balanced...the time one vet slips away another steps up...the time one grauates to elite someone steps up to vet...its a system...does anyone understand what im saying here...
