What I still want to know is what does Prometheus have to do with feminism?

Simpsons

Itchy and Scratchy- violence towards cats.

To humor the Homer Odditty flight of fancy, Homer (or was it Marge) had a mother who was laying low, I think she had escaped from somewhere.

My guess is that MZD included the reference to put Johnny in a modern context and sort of showing how he could be someone we know while planting another seed: perhaps one that helps put simulated and actual violence in perspective.

As relevant as these comparisons may be, i fail to see how comparisons between homer and Navi/Tom unravel any of the books mysteries.

As far as i'm aware The Simpsons isn't mentioned in the book at all, is it?

The message you preach and your signature... they are at odds with one another.

Well the town of Springfield technicly does not exist, while it may be based off some of the various springfields in america, it still does not exist (its not possible, theres too many conflicts not to mention impossibilities in comparison with any springfield in america), much like TNR does not exist. It doesnt even have a state, much like Ash Tree Lane has a street but no town. It is also in constant change where layout is concerned (which I am begining to suspect the neighborhood of Ash Tree Lane does the same at least once in the narrative).

But what I'm getting at is that most sitcoms (except for sci-fi and other fantasies) are either based in a place that actually exists, or make no mention to the location of its setting. however, the simpsons even goes so far as to make reference to fake national landmarks/parks almost like zampano's falsified footnotes.

Actually nevermind the whole neighborhood changing idea. It was a half baked theory born of the lack of information the book gives on the neightborhood. If Navy noticed 1/4 of an inch in his House, he sure as hell would've noticed the neighborhood.

Hey, when the teacher drives to the House, does it say how long it takes? Thinking about it, it probably doesn't, but it would've been something I guess. ('cause it would've told us how far away the school is, but thinking about it, doesn't she come there from her House anyway? Its about 6 months since I read it)

Ah well, I'm re-reading it again, so I'll get there eventually.

The most association I can think of between a specific Simpsons episode and HoL would be the treeHouse of horror where Homer travels into a 3D world. Doesn't really seem to lead anywhere though.
